After denying the need for a bluetooth headset for over three years, I finally succumbed (Live Writer is telling me it is spelled correctly but I am not sure) to the need to buy one for driving, so I bought the Jawbone. It is the only one that the people in the Cingular store recommended because it supposedly uses some military technology developed at DARPA to block out noise and especially wind.
After I heard that, I had a flashback to an article in Wired from a few years ago which mentioned the technology and I remembered how cool I thought it was at the time. Mossberg also validates the story.
It is in fact that cool. The sound quality is pretty amazing, it is lightweight, and I dont feel like that big a schmuck wandering around my apartment with it on. That being said, I WILL NOT BE THAT GUY wandering around with it on in public even when I am not using it….at least I hope not!
PS, it is sort of expensive at $119 but I got the Microsoft 50% discount so at $60 it is a steal.
