Continental Airlines and Houston Airport are horrible
In order to get to New Orleans for JazzFest this past weekend, I had to fly Continental and fly through Houston airport. On both trips I had the worst experience ever.
First, Continental has old planes with extremely cramped seats and extremely unhelpful counterpeople. I have never been more uncomfortable flying and will never fly Continental again until they upgrade their horrible planes.
Second, with regards to the Houston airport, it took me an hour to transfer from the gate where my flight came in from Chicago to the gate where my flight left to New Orleans. They have no moving walkways and the most poorly labelled signs I have ever seen. They clearly need to pay closer attention to their customers. In addition, despite having already gone through security in Chicago, I had to go through security a second time as well in order to make my connection.
IN summary, all of this almost made me miss my connection. If I can avoid it, I am never flying through Houston or on Continental again. What a horrible experience.
Besides that, it was a great weekend and I will post more when I get out of class tonight on Jazz Fest and New Orleans!

I concur. Our 24+day started in London with a 40 min delay. We made it to Newark, NJ, only to be stuck there 6 hrs longer that we wanted to be…just to get to Pittsburgh.
Customer service people behind the counters we rude. Had very little offer for assistance. Gate people who lied about weather, ATC cancelling flights (can ATC really CANCEL flights?), and slow repairs to equipment. Gate people who do not act in a timely way to allow people to make other flight arrangements.
Seems like a little bit of creative technology could reform their mess. I am sick of pathetic customer service.
The next time the feds even think about bailing these people out with tax $, i will personally lobby against it. The airline industry is obviously monopolistic. Not to difficult than big oil.
Oh well…nothing like a night at the Newark NJ airport after 2 weeks + 30 hr travel day.
Avoid continental if you can.
