Bumped off my flight to Nairobi – blessing in disguise
When I arrived at London airport for my flight to Nairobi today, they told me that the flight was oversold. I was angry at the time and I made the importance of getting on that flight know to them since there are not that many Kenya Airways flights that connect to Kigali, Rwanda from Nairobi.
Long story short, I got bumped but they figured out a way to get me to Kigali in time to make my tour departure. I also made off pretty well in the deal. What I got: 1) a flight out First Class tomorrow am (I was flying coach before), 2) a debit card with 415 pounds on it (I am going to spend that to buy a replacement digital camera), 3) put me up in the Hilton in the airport in the last King size bed that I will have for a while, 4) I got out of paying the cost of a hotel room in Kigali since I am not overnighting there anymore, 5) they are putting me up in Nairobi so I can potentially go eat at Carnivore while I am there. Not too bad I have to say!
