A large section of Brazilian Amazon preserved

I just read an article on MSNBC about a section of the Brazilian Amazon which had been saved from deforestation and plantation growth with a $1MM grant from Conservation International.
 
The grant protects an area called the Guayana Shield, the 57,915-square-mile area which contains more than 25 percent of the world’s remaining humid tropical forests and the largest remaining unpolluted fresh water reserves in the American tropics.
 
Although there is still massive deforestation all throughout the Amazon, anyone who has been to the Amazon or has wanted to go to the Amazon should cheer for this step away from deforestation and towards conservation.
