A personal story about the Minneapolis bridge collapse
On the way home last night, I was in a taxi that had NPR on the radio. Not surprisingly, there was a report talking about the Minneapolis bridge collapse and the five deaths in it.
The taxi driver started yelling at the radio saying that the correspondents were liars and when i asked him why, he told me a story about his friend whose wife was on the bridge when it collapsed.
Turns out that she was on the bridge and stuck in traffic and called her husband (who was a friend of the taxi driver from Somalia) and said that she would be late because she was stuck on the bridge in traffic. She was in the car with her 2 year old daughter and she was pregnant with her second child. Later when the husband tried the cell phone later after the bridge collapse, there was no answer.
So, my question (and the taxi driver’s frustration) is why doesn’t someone admit that there are people that are "assumed dead" or "missing" as a result of the bridge collapse? It is like the are purposely avoiding the conversation.
If something bad or tragic happens, sometimes it is better for everyone just to admit that it happened and let the people that are affected deal with the fact rather than living in frustration over the fact that no one has acknowledged their pain….
Sad sad story.
It is …. very sad. Best wishes 4 all that victims.
I guess they are finally coming around to admitting it because I heard on the news yesterday that they think there might be more cars underneath the bridge rubble. But until they remove some of that concrete, they won\’t know for sure.
Still, it\’s very sad & tragic for all those people killed/missing and their families. Hope no one remains unaccounted for.
OMG. I want to fly home and hug my wife/daughter right now.
That\’s is very sad 🙁 Thanks for stopping by it\’s always nice to seenew people and comments. Thank you for thelink too 🙂
Have a nice weekend!

That is* I mean. :/
TOTALLY CANT BELIVE HOW THE PRESS AND THE PEOPLE N CHARGE OF TRAUMATIC SITUATIONS HANDLE THEM. I CAN NOT BELIVE WHAT THEY DID TO THAT POOR MAN. I DO PRY AND HOPE EVERYTHING WORKED OUT ALLRIGHT. I LOST MY DAD IN JUNE RIGHT B4 FATHERS DAY AND THERE IS NOTHING IN THIS WORLD MORE PRECIOUS TO ME THAN MY FAMILY. IT HAS BEEN TWO ONTHS AND THAT STIL IS ALL I EVER THINK ABOUT SO I CAN ONLY IMAGONE WHAT NOT KOWING WOULD FEEL LIKE. WHY PEOPLE DO NOT ADMITT THINGS LIKE THAT ARE BEYOND ME. YET THEY CAN EXPLOIT OTHER SITUATIONS AND NOT BAT AN EYE WHETHER IT IS BAD OR GOOD. MOSTLY NEW IS BAD NEWS SO I TRY NOT TO WATCH IT BUT RATHER GET MINE OFFLINE, THAT WAY I CAN PICK AND CHOOSE MY NEWS. I WISH THEM PEACE AND HAPPINESS.
