Step in the name of …. team bonding?

One of my co-workers is an aerobics/fitness instructor at 24 Hour Fitness, and as part of a team bonding event with the Spaces Product Management team, the six of us decided to take her "step" class tonight…

I have to say that despite all of my previously limited conceptions of "step", I learned a few things tonight and had a lot of fun attempting the steps and laughing at myself and with my co-workers in the mirror as we bumbled through the moves.

1) Step Aerobics is a really good workout and a lot harder than I expected (and we went to the easy class too)
2) I confirmed to myself that I am not a very good dancer (weddings and proms excluded….)
3) 1 week of working out did not get me into great shape
4) Based off the female:male ratio tonight (omitting the Spaces team) 10:0, the stereotype that step aerobics is a primarily female class is definitely a true one
5) Doing something where everyone feels the same level of awkardness is a good way of creating a bonding environment and breaking down any barriers that may exist (not that there really were any)

All in all – A fun night with friends + another step towards winning my workout bet  (see previous post)!
