The Bad Plus concert – Good concert at Jazz Alley
Last night, I went to Jazz Alley to see the Bad Plus in concert. It was a last minute call, but one I am glad I made because they were really good and it had been a while since I had been to a concert.
For those of you that don’t know the Bad Plus, they are an improv jazz band consisting of a pianist, a standup bass player, and a drummer. The band is especially fun to listen to because they play half originals and then half cover songs. For example, last night they covered Neil Young’s "Heart of Gold", Rush’s "Tom Sawyer", and Tears for Fears "Everybody wants to Rule the World".
It always amazes me how nice it is to hear a band play a cover song. You should have seen the people in Jazz Alley rocking out to Tom Sawyer. Good times. You can learn more about them here.
